Practicality Versus Fashion!
Fashionista-Outlet were musing the issues of looking fabulous whilst trying to keep it together in lifes busy day-to-day madness. We got chatting to Johanna Payton who came to our rescue. As the author of Fashion Detective this top fashion blogger knows what she is talking about! Fashionistas welcome to Johanna’s fantastic inside tips on practicality versus fashion…
1. Until the weather gets better, tights really are required – and not only are colour pop tights more exciting than nude, traditional shades, they are less likely to ladder too. At the mo I’m mad for bright orange, hot pink and deep purple – aim for a colour that clashes with your skirt or dress for full-on impact.
2. If you’re worried about ditching your faux fur jacket for spring, try wearing more layers to compensate for the warmth a jacket provides. Wearing a light vest, then a button down blouse, fastened to the top, and a cute pastel jumper over the top provides a funky, preppy look – and you won’t shiver.
3. Clutch bags look great but you need to be clever (and economical) when it comes to choosing what to put in them for a night out. I’ve invested in every make-up “stick” known to man as they are light enough to carry in a clutch and you can pretty much do a full make-up touch-up with them; Garnier’s anti-dark circle pens for under the eyes (and the odd blemish) are a must, and Soap and Glory do three fabulous double-ended products in “stick” form – Marvelips to perfect your pout, The Daily Double eyeshadow and liner and Arch de Triumph to shape and highlight your brow.
4. Vintage clothes are still popular, but the bargains you buy are often stained. There are loads of effective, non-chemical ways to remove stains including using toothpaste, hairspray and a slice of white bread! Have a Google to match the stain to the cure.
5. If you’re inspired by celebrity looks you’ve seen on TV, create a file of inspirational styles (the old fashioned paper way or on your phone/tablet) and take it shopping with you so you don’t lose sight of the effect you’re trying to achieve. If you only caught sight of that amazing dress for a second, see if the show is on catch-up via the internet and then you can pop a screen grab in your “style file”.
6. If you love the idea of wearing prints but you’re worried about how they will look in reality, have a really good trying on session in a high street shop (eg. Topshop or Warehouse) with tons of print options. Rather then dresses, try separates so you can tone down the boldness with something understated. Mix and match to see if the prints are more flattering for you on the top or the bottom.
7. If you’re very busy, but you want fashionable nails that complement every outfit, pop to a salon and try having a UV Gel treatment. It lasts for about three weeks and will prevent your polish from chipping or peeling. If you still want your nails to look natural, ask the manicurist for a thin layer of gel and avoid false tips. Choose bright, acid colours to be on trend for spring.
8. Everyone knows that taking a spare pair of shoes out in case your feet ache at the end of the night is a good idea, but if you’re carrying a small bag it isn’t always practical. Coco Rose fold away pumps are outstanding in this capacity and if you invest in a foldaway shopper too, you’ll have a bag big enough to carry home your heels in.
9. Everyone is going mad for pastels at the moment, but if you just can’t get into the idea of wearing ice cream shades, try pastel jewellery and accessories instead; a pastel bag or bangle will show that you are in the sartorial know without making any wardrobe compromises.
10. Not every fashionista is a tech-lover, but there are some brilliant apps available that really enhance your fashion experiences. Fashion Speak, for example, tells you how to pronounce all those baffling labels and designer names, so you’re never embarrassed in a shop again, and the Dressipi app beats vanity sizing by working out which size you should go for in individual fashion shops and from different online retailers.
Get the Marine Look
It may not be summer yet but we are thinking ahead. The warmer weather will be here before we know it and we have decided you don’t need to own a yaught to work the sailing look (although it would be nice we agree!) Fashionista-Outlet love these Sperry Top Sider Men’s shoes. They are available in a variety of styles and are a comfortable classic shoe infused with 21st century fashion. We think they look great with this D’Squared embroidered white shirt and some Moschino beige Chinos or sand coloured trousers from Fashionista-Outlet.

What to wear for your 2012 Valentines
Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us ladies! Fashionista-Outlet have teamed up with Zara Stone Rabinowicz, a freelance editor for top UK beauty blog Kiss and Makeup. She has given us some great lipstick advice, which we wanted to share with you. Now you can match the perfect lipstick to the perfect outfit and make this Valentine’s 2012 one to remember!
‘Red has been an aphrodisiac inducing colour for centuries, but it can be hard to wear- both on the body or the lips. To find the perfect lip shade you need to know that red lips are not a one size fits all. Make sure the tone used flatters your complexion- as a rule of thumb paler women should go for blue based shades and cooler colours whilst those with brighter complexions can wear warmer shades. Be sure to carry a mirror as red lips are prone to bleeding especially if you are eating, drinking or.. kissing. As with all rules, it’s fine to break them so if you’re pale and wear a bright shades- rock that look!

Love Moschino for Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day can produce two very different reactions. You either look forward to a day of romance and roses with your loved one, or you want to retreat with a tub of Ben and Jerry’s. But whatever your reaction, it’s a great excuse to buy some Valentine’s-themed clothing – and who doesn’t love that!
Love Moschino usually do some fantastic graphic T-Shirts, and we’re particularly fond of this one. It’s black with a red-lipstick print, which is great for Valentine’s without going overboard. It’s round-necked and long-sleeved – perfect for a chilly Febuary. And its simplicity means it can also be worn all-year round.
But if you want to emphasise your creativity rather than your heart, Love Moschino has the perfect men’s T-shirt. Black and slim-fitting, the printed slogan ‘there is no creativity without chaos’ provides a witty anecdote to all those love hearts and roses.
Cosmopolitan UK loves Fashionista-outlet too!
Media interest in Fashionista-Outlet.com is growing, and this week we caught the attention of Cosmopolitan magazine. Earlier this week, they featured us on their website, alongside one of our best-selling pieces, the Alexander McQueen Aztec Jumper Dress. Originally priced at£275.40, it costs a mere £109.14 from us.
Cosmopolitan magazine is a fashion institution so we were pleased to have their recommendation.

WINNER TAKES ALL
Fashionista-Outlet fans will no doubt have seen our £500 feedback competition. Since the beginning of October, we have been blogging, Facebooking and tweeting our followers, asking them to send a brief review of their Fashionista-Oulet experience. All participants were automatically entered into the draw, giving them the chance to win a whopping £500 worth of designer clothing.
On Monday, we chose a winner at random, and that winner was the lovely Eileen Couch.
She was thrilled when our press team contacted her with the good news, saying that she could not believe her luck, having never won a competition of this magnitude before.
After having a look on the website, she wisely chose the Moschino Cheap & Chic Sand Coloured Coat – a classic, and a firm favourite with the Fashionista-Outlet team. She also picked the much-talked-about Moschino Red Tiger Print Dress, and a Roberto Cavalli scarf.
Eileen left the Fashionista-Outlet building a very happy (and stylish) customer.
Eileen tries on the #Moschino Cheap & Chic Sand Coloured Coat, and it’s clearly love at first sight!

Eileen loves the #Moschino coat so much, she wants to wear it now!
Time for a quick photo with FashionistaOT director Myriam Duran.
CONGRATULATIONS to Eileen!
FASHIONISTA-OUTLET DOS and DON’TS for New Year’s Eve
DO
Be adventurous!
You've seen that Alexander McQueen dress, and you know full-well that it’ll look fantastic on you. But where on earth would you wear it? And will you ever pluck up the courage? Well if ever there was an occasion to try something new, it’s New Year's Eve. Unlike the Christmas party, decorum and appropriateness aren't as much of a concern. So if it looks good on you, go for it. However…
DON'T
Try a drastic new look on the same day.
So, that orange dip-die hair doesn’t look as good as it did in your imagination? Fine. It’s the gamble you take for trying something new. But take that gamble a few days before, when you can actually do something about it if it doesn’t work out. Do not do it on the same day. You’ll only end up staying in, cursing your ill-advised make-over.
DO
Look like a million dollars
Tonight, you have an obligation to make the most of your best feature. If you have fantastic legs, show them off in shorts (and tights) or a micro-mini. If you have an eye-catching cleavage, celebrate it in a low-cut top. If your skin is your thing, wear a strapless dress and let the light hit your gleaming shoulders. Don't forget to set it off with those to-die-for Moschino shoes you found in the sale. But…
DON'T
Do cleavage and legs at the same time.
We don't want to rain on your parade but your mother was right about this one. There’s nothing wrong being daring or making the most of what you’ve got, but if you want to retain some class (and appeal to those as classy as you) we suggest doing one at a time. Do wear those leather micro shorts and heels, but with a slouchy top and clutch bag, or a blazer. Not a low-cut belly top. We want to portray lady with a glamorous night life, not ‘lady of the night’.
DO
Wear something you've not been seen in before.
Those skinny jeans that suit you on fat days and thin days; that can be dressed up or down… Stay away from them. Take them to the dry cleaners. New Year's Eve is not the night for reliable and safe. Instead, pull out that item that you’ve always wanted to wear, but haven’t given a chance yet. Try in on at home a few times before the big night – with the accessories and make up that you intend to wear. That way, you won’t feel unsure or uncomfortable with its newness. If it looked great on you a few days ago, then you know it will on the night.
DON'T
Wear something uncomfortable.
Is it too small, too short or too tight? Then leave it where it is. You want to be dancing, sipping champagne and socialising, not to wasting the last few minutes of the year yanking it down/hoisting it up/complaining that you can’t bend over.
The perfect balance is to wear something daring, new or extravagant that just so happens to fit like a glove. It’s not always easy to find, but once you get it right, your entrance into 2012 will be an unforgettable one.
Happy New Year everybody!

RIZAL PARTY DRESS
New year’s eve is fast approaching – what will be your very last party outfit for 2011? It’s got to be something memorable… Something elegant but with a bit of ‘drama’ to it.
For us, the ultimate bad-girl party dress is the black layered netted number by Rizal Dress Code. Strapless with huge pouffy skirts and a big sash bow, it is not for the shy and retiring. The girl wearing this dress will be cheering the loudest when the clock strikes 12, with her glass of champagne permanently filled for her.
If you’re going to wear this dress, there’s no room for subtlety; you must go all the way. A slightly dishevelled up-do, patent black stilettos and a statement neckpiece are what’s needed. Or, if you like to push boundaries even further, patent Doc Martins and a studded leather jacket. Either way, this dress is going to get you noticed, photographed and remembered, so when you wear it, don’t hold back in any capacity.

Black on Black
…/
We all agree! Black is the eternal look of the luxurious, the classy and the fashion savy. It is also the safe look at times when indecisiveness creeps into our dizzy mornings or lazy nights out, where nothing else seem to work but BLACK. It works for all and will always remain as such.
Nevertheless, there is another black phenomenon lurking around the corner, which may no longer be safe but daring as hell reaching other levels of luxurious fashion expression. Designers such as Gareth Pugh, are slowly giving birth to a movement that was once seen as costum-ish; outfits primarily intended for Halloween parties than a dinner date in a five star restaurant.
The Gothic look is no longer so “gothic” but becoming more “epic”. To celebrate this growing fashion, here is a peak at what you can wear that will give you the “Pugh Look” without looking like a pumpkin barer…
